The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark announced the other day that, during the “United Nations Climate Change Conference” to be held in December this year, political leaders of various nations would ride on vehicles firing environmental protection fuel to shuttle in Copenhagen, half of which would be driven by the second generation of bio-ethanol produced from straw. Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Sven Olin said, Denmark prepared 122 environmental vehicles driven by biological energy source, clean diesel oil, hybrid and hydrogen for the Climate Change Conference, 60 vehicles among which were based on biological energy source. Therefore, Denmark government specially established a “biofuel partner plan” organization co-operated by Novozymes A/S and other related company to take in charge of supplying related clean energy. Novozymes A/S introduced that, the second generation of bio-ethanol, featured by the minimum emission, was produced from forestry and agricultural wastes such as straw. Compared with traditional bio-ethanol produced from grain crops such as starch, saccharides and cellulose, etc., it enjoys a more extensive development prospect. In addition, carbon dioxide emitted during production of the second generation bio-ethanol is 85% less than that of normal gasoline.
